We specializes exclusive in Pressurized Walls.
We are not general Contractors, and don't offer other services
like apartment painting, etc.. We build Temporary - Pressurized
Walls and that's all we do. That said, we know our business
well and we have dealt with all the possible scenarios that
our customers may experience when deciding on having a wall
installed. Whether you decide to use our services or those of another Wall Company, we would like to share some valuable information that will help ease the pain of having a Pressurized Wall installed. To begin with, our walls and those by the other top wall companies are not prefabricated. Each wall is built from raw materials, primarilly framing studs and sheet rock. The only difference between the way a pressurized wall is built and the way a normal wall is built is that Pressurized Walls are not held up by any screws or nails into the existing floors and ceilings of your apartment or office. How the walls stay up is of course a trade secret but its not rocket science. SEAMLESS -vs- NON-SEAMLESS WALLS The second major issue that come up is the difference between a "seamless wall" and a "non-seamless wall". We build "seamless walls". Most of our competitors build "non-seamless" walls. Pressurized Walls are built in sections as are normal walls. The walls in your apartment would be considered as "seamless" because the sections of the walls are covered with plaster and then sanded smoothly before they are painted to make the surface look like one continuous wall. The plastering process is the main reason that some companies build non-seamless walls, since plastering adds additional time to the project and requires an added level of craftsmanship. Instead of plaster, the seams on non-seamless walls are covered with flat strips of wood called latice. Unfortunately this makes it obvious as to where all the seams are on the wall thus making the wall clearly look temporary. We builds "seamless walls". We tape and plaster all of the seams making our walls look like the rest of the walls in your apartment and we do this at no additional cost. LEASING -vs- NON-LEASING Another issue that comes up very often is the issue of leasing your wall. As we have stated above, walls built by PWNY and the other top wall companies are built from raw materials so when they are disassemble, most of the materials are discarded. That said, the concept that your wall can be used by someone else when it is taken down is totally impossible. Most of our competitors still lease the walls to their customers and charge annual leasing fees and securities deposits just as if you were leasing a car. Their explanation is that since the customer does not own the wall they are obligated to remove the wall once the customer's lease runs out. We do not lease walls and we do not charge any leasing fees or security deposits. You may keep the wall up as long as you wish at no extra cost and we give you a written removal agreement that obligates us to remove your wall upon request. When getting prices quotes from any of our competitors, make sure to ask them if there are any leasing fees or security deposits required. Also make sure to ask if the price quote is for a "seamless wall" or a "non-seamless" wall. ============================================================================== Each month we will add more Tips to help you make the right decision when deciding on a Pressurized Walls. As a final note, we have received several inquiries from customers stating that their landlords are trying to make them use a certain wall company. It is illegal in New York City for landlords to steer a tenant towards a certain vendor, especially if it is the tenant that is baring the expense. All of New York's top wall companies carry basically the same type of liability insurance which should be the only requirement a landlord should request when you are deciding on a Wall company. |
